The black metal of the early 1990's is mostly associated with North-European countries such as Norway, Sweden and Finland. Around the same time in East-Europe the scene was exploding as well. In Poland, specifically, three bands formed that would form cornerstone functions in this pioneering genre: Christ Agony, Xantotol and Mastiphal.
